  TROLLS

A troll is a being in Norse mythology and from Scandinavian folklore. They dwelled in isolated rocks, mountains, or caves and lived in small groups or families. Their looks and characteristics differed depending on what region they were from.

Here is a little tale of the trolls...

There was a time when waters were clean and forests were untouched. When the ancients  spoke of "guardians of the earth" in Scandinavian lands. These mysterious creatures were called "trolls." These solitary beings were told to be kidnappers and man-eaters.  Numerous tales of trolls picture them much like a small man such as a dwarf.  Mischievous creatures with bad associations were old and scary looking!

Trolls were known to guard the earth's natural resources by burying precious metals and minerals underground. (silver, gold, brass, copper, bronze, gemstones) The presence of trolls usually indicates gold and gemstones are buried nearby! Which is why trolls are often associated with good fortune.

We know that after a rain shower rainbows appear. The trolls guarding the buried treasure have long hair with shimmering lights the colors of the rainbow. Trolls who guard the "pot of gold" can be identified by their rainbow colored hair. 

Trolls live in families. Other troll families are the "forest trolls" who have green hair and "sea trolls" who have blue hair. The older and wiser trolls have gray or white streaks in their hair. 

The best place to find a troll would be a patch of berries. But, trolls move so quickly they can only be caught if you "grab them by the hair." Once caught, a troll will grant you a wish.  Because of this trolls are said to bring good luck when you rub their hair. 

Because they are rarely seen some people believe trolls no longer exist today.  These nearly forgotten creatures are once again in our midst. Find one. Grab it by its hair. Make a wish! Quickly! before the sunlight comes up and turns them to stone!

Aquamarine. . .is associated with the sea.  It is the color of the sea and is believed to give protection to sea travelers, such as sailors or vacationers. Folklore tells us that it came from the "treasure chest of the mermaids." They believed that it increased in power when placed under the water.

Also known as a stone of courage and serenity. Aquamarine is said to calm, soothe and relieve anxiety; helping with fears and phobias. Believed to soothe communication conflicts and enhance communication skills.

A "good luck" stone said to bring feelings of love and happiness to those who wear it.  It is supposed to help us get in touch with the ocean. Most commonly found in Brazil, Pakistan, and Colorado...originally mined in Russia where supplies have been depleted. Also has been mined in China, Burma, Middle East and parts of Africa.

This beautiful stone is said to stimulate intellectual reasoning and knowledge giving you the fortitude to keep pushing toward your goals with confidence and purpose.

Green Jade 

At Earth Ocean Fire Jewelry we design jewelry for men. Green Jade is used in our collection of Irish Necklaces because of its rich green color.

Jade is has been considered the "stone of heaven" for centuries in China. Archeologists say Chinese and Japanese began trading jade about 7.000 years ago.  The Japanese substituted their once widely-used pottery with flat bottom pieces of jade. These pieces have been found in Northeast China relic sites. In eastern cultures, jade is considered more valuable than either diamonds or gold because it is believed to "bestow a long and happy life." 

It is a "feng shui" belief that if you carry a piece of jade with you and touch it or rub it frequently it will transmit to you its sterling qualities of health and strength and more important longevity. Jade may be either "nephrite" or "jadeite", with most "jadeite" coming from Northern China. Nephrite comes primarily from British Columbia. The most valuable is the verdant green. Green jade is believed to promote deep, enduring strength and peace. And it is believed to offer physical and emotional well being by helping us us to feel more grounded.  Jade is said to help us accept and deal with situations we cannot change sanely.      

Jade comes in a variety of colors, including black, the most popular being green or white.
